DAVID CHOE 2007 CALENDAR OUT NO........NEVER!!!!

After producing the dave choe calendar with tower records for the
last 5 years, I turned in the art three months ago just to find out
last week, it ain’t happening, they’re filing for bankruptcy. So
what? They ‘ve already filed for bankruptcy like 10 times already.
The problem this time is, it’s time for LIQUIDATION! Here’s the
news straight from ,clint my main man over at tower
“Tower Records is going to be fading into the
sunset, and fading to black
pretty damned fast, too. They declared bankruptcy (again) in the
first week of August. But at
that time it still looked like things were going to stay normal, and
things like the calendars were
still going to happen. The end result of the bankruptcy was Tower
going on the auction block.
The auction was last Thursday and Friday, and after 29 straight hours
of negotiating (I'm told
there was no sleep, just a long, long negotiation), a company called
Great American Group won
the auction, and walked off with Tower in the bag for a mere $150
million dollars.

So far, so good- but Great American is a professional liquidator, and
their sole purpose at this
point is to sell off everything in the company including tables and
chairs for as much money as
they can get. The entire main office short of some accounting people
will probably be laid off
tomorrow, maybe Wednesday. The stores will be selling everything on
sale, and I guess they're
going to stay open for the next 6-8 weeks or so, maybe through the
middle of December.

No more zines, no more distribution... oh, well. Easy come, easy go,
right?”

I hear the sounds of prices being slashed faster than wallmart, I’m
sure as it gets closer to d-day the sales are gonna get crazier and
crazier, I guess this is a direct result of the internet, and no
one buying music anymore, and the fucked side effect being, tower
records in a lot of small towns is the only outlet and source for cool
independent zine’s ,comics and magazines. Oh well. I’m off to go
buy some music, I’m gonna get a basket, I need a new desk also.
