MoveOn.org, artist Shepard Fairey and Upper Playground announced today that they will join forces to host the “Manifest Hope Art Gallery” (manifesthope.com) at the Democratic National Convention. The gallery, open from Sunday, August 24 through Thursday, August 28 2008, will feature both known and new artists all supporting Barack Obama for President.
The groups also launched a related contest today, calling for entries of visual art from grassroots supporters of Senator Obama. Similar to MoveOn.org’s “Obama in 30 seconds” contest, the submissions will be reviewed by a panel of judges including famed artists Ross Bleckner, April Gornik, Eric Fischl, Shepard Fairey, musicians Moby, Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth and DJ Spooky and Cydney Payton - Executive Director & Chief Curator Museum of Modern Art Denver, and Nancy Spector - Author & Guggenheim Curator of Contemporary Art. Five finalists will be selected to show in the MANIFEST HOPE Gallery alongside well-known artists such as Shepard Fairey, Sam Flores, Ron English, Chris Pastras, Mel Kadel and David Choe.
“Our members have used creativity really effectively to help in elections, and we’re excited to partner with Shepard and his crew to bring more artistic voices to help elect Obama,” said Eli Pariser, Executive Director of MoveOn.org. “The contest, the gallery, and the event will add energy to an already vibrant movement for progressive change in our country.”
The Manifest Hope Gallery will be housed in 10,000 sq. ft. of gallery space in downtown Denver. It will show some of the most widely recognized art pieces seen in the 2008 presidential campaign and a wide variety of new works by famed artists.

we lived together, we rode together, we fucked shit up together, we went to jail together, we burned shit down together, and we ate alot alot of pasta with butter and salt together, this is my old crew from many years ago, when i lived in oakland, there was 9 of us living above Art's crab shack, and when i say it was the best of times and it was the worst of times, one week we'd rob every grocery store in town and make gourmet dinners and have robotech marathons, and ride all night and swim in hotel pools we werent staying at, and then play football in the rain, and then go home and finish watching robotech while all drawing on the same piece of paper, and then the next week we'd be running down the street holding a giant costco frozen ham, being chased by fratboys, but mostly it was the best of times.. If you are in the bay this Saturday and you want to see the best shit ever, and also get some art that's affordable, don't miss this shit, it'll rock your shit, and my main man Joe To will be putting out his first print with my brother (it'll be under a hundred bucks!) go check it out ,you wont be sorry.

i was super stressed out the entire month, leading up to harry's movie, but it went off better than expected
(i still havent seen the finished cut, it's too upsetting, even more than, when bruce willis gives his life for ben afflecks in armageddon), the fan's came out in full force, it was the most attended film in the entire LA FILM FESTIVAL, and now big things are starting to happen, for my man harry, i'm so proud of him, all the reviews(1,2, 3, 4,5,6)were fucking amazing, here's a collection of photo's from joe to, Eric Nakamura, Bobby Hundreds,and Mark the Cobrasnake, of the day leading up to the premiere, and then the next 48 hours after. thanks everyone

Rhode Montijo is the best, humble creator of cloud boy,pablos inferno,and happy tree friends, here he is in El Paso 2006, when we were on a cross country graffiti tour with SABER and Kenton Parker, I painted the melting bike , and Rhode provides the spooky dude, the guy that owned this shop was the best, he claimed he had a vision of us coming to town to paint his shop for years! and for making his dreams come true he made Rhode's dream come true, by giving him a unicycle!, a retired alcoholic circus clown later gave him lessons in austin, anyways the guy never stops, check out these cupcakes he made! the fucking shoes are made out of starbursts and the lips are airheads!!
